Sharif ‘The Lion’ Bogere deems his first attempt at a world title against Richard Abril on November 24 will have the atmosphere he is yet to experience as a professional boxer. It is for the vacant WBA World lightweight title in the Citizens Business Bank Arena, Ontario, California will never come close
Bogere is undefeated in the paid ranks 23-15KOs a stat he will have to keep if he is to become a world champion.
“It will be electric, but am up to the task, am not a Lion for nothing,” Bogere said. Bogere has floored four of his last five opponents (Manuel Leyva, Sergio Rivera, Francisco Contreras, Raymundo Beltran, and Shamir Reyes).
Only Beltran managed to last the distance as the Ugandan claimed the vacant NABO lightweight title.
At 36 Abril is six years older than the Ugandan, but Bogere boasts of more experience with 23 fights compared to the Cuban whose record stands at 17-3-1-8Kos. “I don’t think there is much diffirence in experience between the two of us. Especially now that a world title is at stake,” said Bogere.
