A confident Team Uganda was seen off by Uganda Golf Union president Amos Nzeyi at Entebbe golf club yesterday as they set their eyes on the East Africa Golf Challenge tournament that swings into action from November 14-16 in Bujumbura,Burundi.

“We are very confident going into this challenge and all my team-mates are in good shape and ready to win the tournament,” Philip Kasozi, the captain of the side said. “Kenya is our biggest opponents, but we are not scared of them and they know that we shall be giving them a tough run.”

 The team is made up of 20 year old Happy Robert, who is making his debut for the national team, Former professional and 2009 Uganda Open winner Peter Senduala is making a return to the national fold others on the team include 19 year old Adolf Muhumuza, the youngest player on the team,Willy Kitata,Patrick Mugisha,Ronnie King,Abbey Bagalana,Gideon Kagyenzi the head of the delegation is Edwin Tumusiime, the treasurer of the Uganda Golf Union while the team is coached by Deo Akope.

 Uganda will be seeking to East African regional tournament for a record fourth time having won it in  and 2004,2009,2010. This year’s edition has attracted Kenya, the defending champion’s, Tanzania,Rwanda,Burundi and Uganda.

Team Uganda has been sponsored by Mukwano Industries,Crown Beverages,Multiple Industries, the Uganda Golf Union and members and wellwishers of golf.
