Veteran Benjamin Musoke’s long wait paid off after he was named 2012 Multiple Industries Division I League most valuable player (MVP) at the league awards held Oasis Restaurant, Lugogo on Thursday evening.
Having been the only honour left for him to garner in his long career, it was quite a memorable night for the Tornado player.
“I am really happy to win this,” he said after beating other contenders Nile’s Martin Ondeko and SKLPS’ Jitesh Gorasia.
It’s his splendid half ton of 73 runs off 88 deliveries in the league decider against rivals Wanderers last month is what returned Tornado to glory since 2009. They were awarded the trophy by the sponsors.
Musoke had ended his season with a total of 345 runs, four wickets and five catches in the outfield.
With his vast experience alongside skipper Frank Nsubuga, Raymond Otim and Richard Okia, Musoke believes Tornado can reproduce similar results next season.
In the women’s category, Charity Trust Fund took the biggest honour following their eight wicket victory over a star studded Wanderers’ side back in June.
