Trust High 2-0 Katikamu SDA
Trust High School won the International Women’s Day Volleyball Gala after overcoming Katikamu SDA 2 nil in the finals played at Mary Hill Girls School in Mbarara. Inspired by exceptional display of their powerful attacker, Tracy Kulume and the excellent back court coverage of Barbra Akiror, Trust High School, who had last won the trophy in 2011, overcame a stiff challenge of over 25 secondary schools.
Pooled in group C alongside hosts, Mary Hill Marian team, Cubs, Kinawa B, Echo 1 and Aisha Secondary schools, a determined Trust High team found it easy to penetrate the quarters where they whipped Kawempe Muslim School by 2-0 (25-09, 25-13) and the semis, where they faced Kinawa A by the same margin of 2-0 (25-19),25-18) before booking a date with fierce rivals, Katikamu SDA, who had beaten Bweranyangi Girls and Hosts, Mary Hill Yahweh in the Quarters and semifinals respectively.
Come the final, Trust High, had an easy ride over Katikamu SDA with 25-11 and 25-14 victories in the two sets played. Kinawa won the third place finish over hosts and defending champions, Mary Hill with a nail biting 25-22 and 25-19 victory.
The one day tourney was organized by the Uganda Volleyball Federation to celebrate the Women’s Day.
