Duncan Mugabe, got a morale booster 3-1 win over David Oringa ahead of the Kenya Open that swings into action from May 27-June 2 , at the Nairobi Club.
Mugabe was a 4-6,7-6(7-2)7-5,5-0(Ret) winner over David Oringa at the center court last weekend at the Center Court tennis club in Lugogo.
The two players who are eyeing honours in the prestigious Real Insurance Kenya Open later this month looked rusty for most of the time on center court in an event that will be held every weekend.
“It was another good run for me in the game and hope that my momentum will pick ahead of the Kenya Open,” Mugabe said. “The two of us are improving and hopefully we shall get better and better with more of these challenges.”
Oringa pulled a muscle in the fourth set having taken the opening set. “My game is improving that is my backhand, my serve and returns I believe it can get better and better,” Oringa stressed. “I pulled a muscle and will be treating it just in time for the Kenya Open. It’s not a Big issue for me at the moment.”
This weekend the Ugandan tennis players will have a battle in the doubles with Mugabe and Oringa pairing up to battle Moses Otiti and Henry Muyanja.
