The She Cranes, Uganda’s national netball team players and officials will have to endure over 1765 kilometres from Kampala to the Malawian Capital of Blantyre by road as the team gets ready to play in the 3rd Edition of the African Nations Challenge Championships.
Speaking to Kawowo sportson Wednesday evening at Lugogo, the team manager, Jocylne Chanda revealed they had no option but to travel by road in order to participate in the championships whose host is also the defending champion.

“Missing the championships would be a huge setback, we are ready to travel the 1765 km by road come which ever means”, vowed Chanda, who is also a marketing executive with National Insurance Corporation.

15 African nations including South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Namibia, Lesotho, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Kenya, Sychelles, Tanzania, Bostwana, Cameroon , Sierre Leone, Uganda and Malawi, the hosts and defending champions, have already confirmed participation for the week long event slated for 24th-30th June.

The She Cranes will start their long trek, estimated to last 3-4 days on Thursday.
