Ndejje Angels Vs Eagles 6:30PM
UCU Canons Vs Falcons 8:30PM

UCU Canons have started the 2013 NBL season on high, probably the best start since their promotion. They are unbeaten in six, beating title contenders, City Oilers and Warriors in the process. The pace setters will be back on the floor this evening against the most successful team in local basketball, Falcons. “We are going to compete as hard as we can. We understand they are on a roll and all seems well, but we want to win much as they do” Falcons assistant coach, Gad Eteu told Kawowo Sports.

Falcons (4-2) are an experienced side and have players that use their brain more than the strength and will need more than a physical match up. “We can’t catch up with them in experience. We just have to be us and contain them and hopefully their experience won’t count” UCU’s coach, Nicholas Natuhereza said. “We will try our best to deny them any easy opportunities” he added.

Canons (6-0) are a strong side down with the trio of Martin Okwako, Desmond Owili and Ivan Lumanyika at the front court with the help of Brian Namake and Boniface Okello. Without doubt Peter Elungat, Serge Kabangu, Philip Ameny and Peter Nyoroto will have some work on the defensive end. “We know that’s their strongest point. We intend to find ways to curtail that and stay in and see what we can get” Eteu added.

Center, Philip Ameny missed Falcons’ game against Dmark Power two weeks ago, and reportedly got involved in a minor accident Thursday morning. “He (Ameny) is back and has told me that he is ok, but him along with Jeff (Omondi) will be game decisions. Serge (Kabagu) will play” Eteu on the doubts for the game.

Much as Canons won the game against Oilers, they struggled to score in three quarters. “We are going to execute better than we did in the last game” UCU’s guard, Syrus Kiviri said. Last year’s champion with Warriors also admits the experience in the Falcons’ roster but thinks they get past it. “They are a more experienced team but they will have to guard us well. The best team on the night will win – it will be UCU” he said.

Ndejje University Angels will play Eagles in the 6:30 tip-off. Angels (3-2) are almost certain that they will win a second game in a row after the 72-51 win over Nkumba Marines last Sunday while their opponents, Eagles have to wait to get their first season win as they can’t score and defend as well.
