Playing at KIU for the first time, UCU Canons were always going to have a tough game leave alone facing a team that has limited them to less than 60 points in most of the encounters.
Despite the tough game Canons (15-2) came away with a 49-34 win. Sudi Ulanga scored game high 16 points to lead the way for Canons and big man Desmond Owili added 12 points and 14 boards. It is the only game in which Canons scored below 50 points this season.
Chris Omanye, KIU’s only player to score in double figures had 12 points. Francis Kasekende and Edwin Katerega went scoreless from the field as Titans scored a season low 34 points.
Proline Heaters are running out of time to fight for survival and their performances are not helping. Heaters (2-14) fell to Charging Rhinos 60-62 on Sunday at YMCA despite a big fourth quarter and game high 23 points effort from their guard Adam Kakuru. Rasheed Male had 20 points for Rhinos (6-10) and Abel Omoding added 11 points as the new comers continued their push for a post season appearance.
Meanwhile, Geoffrey Soro scored 15 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and Micheal Opolot added 12 points as Ndejje Angels beat Nkumba Marines 63-47. Wilson Otweyo scored game high 16 points for Marines (4-13) and Brian Sivachi had 11 points.
Riham Warriors bounced back from Friday’s loss to Power with an 83-57 win over Vegetarian. Andrew Okot and Ivan Enabu scored 18 points apiece to lead Warriors. Slyvian Yunzu contributed 13 points and Jude Ochen 11. Vegetarian were led by Bernard Okumu with 15 points and Vinnie Jurua had 9 points.
In the women’s division, Magic Stormers beat Nabisunsa 62-42. Carol nyafwono scored game high 19 points to lead Stormers. Belinda Feni and Sylvia Twesigye contributed 16 points each. Zaina Lokwameri had 12 for Nabisunsa.
UCU Lady Canons beat KIU Rangers 56-38 behind Moreen Amoding’s 22 points. Peace Proscovia added 18 points and 14 rebounds. Judith Nansobya and Florence Nanyonga led KIU with 10 points each.
