National Championship Final (Men):
KAVC Vs NEMO Stars (MUBS Courts)
18th Sept- 3:00 pm
Perhaps it’s not news that KAVC veteran Hannington Nsubuga will miss the 32nd National Club Championship Final again Nemostars tomorrow at the Mubs Grounds in Nakawa according to the Daily Monitor. Nsubuga wasn’t on the official team sheet submitted in Mbale two weeks ago.
Without him, KAVC managed to go all the way to the final before it was washed-out by rain. Nemostars was leading KAVC by one set and where leading the second 11-10.
“Only names of those players submitted before the start of the tournament will be available to play the final,” Juma Osunge, Sports Organizing Committee chairman said.
Nemostars’ Antony Oleuko was registered for the two day tournament in Mbale, where he played a pivotal role. Nemostars then had Steven Wandera suffering from malaria and Louis Mubangizi had torn a muscle in his back. He will miss the final to be replayed tomorrow because of a tight work schedule in Lira.
“He is key player of ours, we will surely miss him,” said Nemostars coach Anthony Ndawula. That leaves Nemostars will only Mubangizi, Tom Paul Amou and Wandera as the only power attackers available.
“The available players will rise to the occasion, like they have always done in his absence,” Ndawula added. Oleuko’s absence leaves Nemostars with only nine players available while KAVC have 14 to choose from. KAVC will also well back coach Lesiley Mugusa who missed the Mbale trip welcomed on the bench as he searches for his second title after the Nkumba Open.
Players eligible to play for both teams tomorrow.
