Return Leg, U-20 Women’s World Cup
Uganda 13 – 0 South Sudan (Agg: 22 – 0)
Three sets of hat-tricks from Ritah Kivumbi, Hassifah Nassuna and second half super substitute, Sandra Nabweteme have helped Uganda to a memorable performance at the Phillip Omondi Stadium, in Lugogo, Kampala over South Sudan in a women’s U-20 World Cup qualifier.
Naome Naggadya, Slyvia Nakazibwe, Dorothy Nakato and Jenninga Awadifo’s solitary strikes sealed the fate of FIFA’s latest entrant, South Sudan. The first leg had ended 9-0, at the Juba National Stadium in favour of the Ugandans.
After the 22-0 aggregate win over South Sudan, the Ugandan ladies thus qualify to the next stage of qualifies and is set to face North African opposition, Egypt.
“Like i said before the game (return leg match), the game was to consolidate on the earlier win got away in South Sudan”, Edward Kaziba, the Ugandan head coach said.
On a sad note, one South Sudan player, Sidona Akwch Adhar was rushed to a clinic after she fell unconscious. By the time of writing this report, her condition was stabilizing. Her condition was attributed to Typhoid.
South Sudan Head Coach blamed his team’s dismissal performance to the slippery ground after an afternoon down pour in Kampala.
After the Egypt-Uganda tie, 8 teams will be grouped to play in the African Football Women championship in Namibia come October 2014 where the top 3 winners will straight away qualify for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup to be held in Canada.
Other African teams that will play in the qualifiers include South Africa, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Equatorial Guinea, Ghana, Guinea Bissau, Ivory Coast, Morocco, Mozambique, Nigeria, Tanzania, Tunisia and Zambia.
