Vision Volleyball Camp (VVC) ladies lifted their fourth title in five outing after they won the fifth edition of the KIU Open. VVC defeated defending champions Nkumba University 3-2 (20-25, 25-18, 25-23, 16-25, and 15-11) to another another silverware in their trophy cabin.

Unlike other titles VVC have won the KIU didn’t come easy despite having an easy ride to the final. They defeated Sport-S and UCU 3-1 in the quarter and semi finals respectively after winning their entire preliminaries fixture in straight sets.

“Nkumba have very thing, can cover, have good attackers play a brain game not like other teams the reason they gave us a tough time in the final,” said VVC captain Viola ‘Shosho’ Akisa. VVC had fallen to Nkumba in the final of the Ndejje Open, the only time the former has tasted defeat.

“This time round our defense in front worked more than the last time we played them, and our attackers were superb,” she added. Nkumba’s tactician Tony Lakony applauded VVC game approach, but also reckoned that he was let down by his thin squad.

“The game was competitive, they served a little well at the end, it was neck to neck, two errors here and there and we failed to catch,” Lakony said. “My team got tired when it mattered most because we played the same six throughout,” he added. The men’s finals between Sport-S and Sky didn’t end because of poor light when tied at 2 all.
