Uganda’s top squash player Michael Kawooya, is in Hammerum, Denmark training ahead of the Commonwealth games in Glasgow, Scotland from July 23-August 3.
“I am undergoing a training programme here in Denmark ahead of the Commonwealth games,” Kawooya stated in a e-mail. “I believe that this programme and the training that I will be getting here will help me and my game as a whole.”
Kawooya has represented Uganda at the Commonwealth games before that was in New Delhi, India in 2010.
He will primarily work out in Hammerum but will also visit some of the surrounding clubs in the region, where he will be training together with some of the clubs best players, while he will also train with the club’s junior talent. An exciting and different challenge for the young players in the clubs.
Kawooya is training under the watchful eye of Lew Mardsen, a Danish top squash coach and has developed a training programme for the Ugandan player he will also during his time in Denmark visit clubs in the Hammerum area. I
Mardsen is hoping this training programme will go along way in creating a similar collaration in the future.
