He fought fourteen months ago, but he looked fresh like a “Hungry Lion” Sharif “The Lion” Bogere knocked out Mexican Arturo Urena of Mazatlan, Mexico on Saturday at the Stub Hub Center in Carson, California as he made a long awaited come back to the ring.
The Las Vegas based fighter was making a return to the ring since his lose against Cuban Richard Abril in a World Boxing Association World lightweight title belt in March 2013 however coupled with that loss the Ugandan fighter was battling with a nigling achilles tendon that he has had since 2012.
“It feels great to be back and I would like to thank Allah for give me the strength and courage to return to the ring sucessfully,” Bogere said. “I believe this can give me the determination to return back were I belong.”
It was Bogere’s 24 win in the ring and his 16th win by way of knockout improving his record to (24-1-0,16 KOs). He is promoted by Golden Boy Promotions that is owned by boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya.
Bogere, was a support fight on the WBA interim world championship fight against Kevin Thurman and Julio Diaz.
During the fight referee Ray Corona stopped the contest 50 seconds into the sixth round as the corner threw in the towel. Bogere rebounds as he improves to 24-1, 15 KOs. Urena goes to 26-17-1, 22 KOs.
