Uganda earned her first gold medal at the 2014 Common Wealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland thanks to Moses Kipsiro’s heroics in the 10,000m.
Kipsiro who won gold at the games four years ago became the first athlete to defend the 10,000m race after clocking 27:56: 11 three micro seconds better than Kenya’s Josphat Kipkoech Bett.
Canada’s Cameron Levins won bronze after finishing third completing the race in 27:56:23.
Uganda’s Timothy Toroitch and Moses Kibet finished eighth and eleventh respectively.
Kipsiro’s gold now puts Uganda 17th on the medal table with five medals overall of which four are bronze.
Boxers Fazil Kagwa and Mike Ssekabembe, athletes Winnie Nanyondo and Abraham Kiplimo are the other Ugandan medal winners at Glasgow 2014.
