Kenya’s coach, Anthony Ojwuku described it as a ‘cracker’. Uganda’s Silverbacks take on Kenya tonight at the MTN Arena with both teams in must win situations.
After losing to Rwanda (earlier) and Egypt last night, Kenya now need to beat Uganda to have the slimmest of chances.
“It is going to be a cracker” Anthony Ojwuku said after his team’s loss to Egypt. “It is a must win and will win.” “Uganda has not beaten Kenya in the twenty years i have coached in Kenyan Basketball and it not going to be tomorrow (today)” he added
Meanwhile the Silverbacks have got to win against Kenya tonight and Rwanda tomorrow to join already tournament champions with a game to spare Egypt.
The Silverbacks will have to limit Ancette Wafula’s shooting from distance as he is Kenya real threat from the 3-points line. Kenya mostly score from near the basket and Gazelles have to close driving lanes and zone out Desmond Owili’s who is Kenya’s go to play at the post.
Henry Malinga did not get many touches in his zone against Egypt but he will be instrumental against Kenya along with Ivan Lumanyika.
Kenya’s women’s side could seal their place at the Afro-basket with a win against Egypt. The win for Kenya will also mean the Gazelles have qualified regardless of the result in their last game against Kenya on Sunday.
