Sadolin Mongers coach Robert Powell has admitted that his side still remain with a great deal of cumbrous tasks in the dimensions of performance enhancement despite Saturday’s win that gladly helped them grab top spot on the Nile Special Uganda Rugby Premiership log.

The Entebbe based side defeated Impis 11-36 at Makerere Rugby Grounds for fourth win in six, but Powell claims he was disappointed with the outfit’s first half display, prompting him to intervene in the team talk at the break.

“I was a little disappointed about the points differential, our first half performance lacked intensity and urgency and it required a stern talking by me at half time to get the team on the right track in the 2nd half.

“To be honest I thought it was our least impressive game so far as a team, although there were a few outstanding individuals who stood tall. We left at least 2 scores on the pitch given that Impis had 3 red cards and finished with 12 players.”

Since the win left alot to desire, Powell expressed a pinch of satisfaction at the overall result, accepting it as they wait for 20 December’s Heathens-Kobs postponed fixture.

“A bonus point win is exactly what it says so we’ll take the 5 and happily sit top of the table for a few days. Once Heathens and KOBs have played their game on the 20th then the true picture will be clear.”

Mongers travel from home in Entebbe to face Warriors on Saturday as the Premiership heads into the Christmas break and could be forced to field a depleted squad again and a makeshift front row for the game due to absences through injury, exams, work and family commitments.

Kato Herbert is still nursing injury along with a few others and will only return in the New Year. Simon Wakabi and John Wandicho are carrying knocks too and will need to pass late fitness tests before weekend kickoff.
