SC Villa completed a double against Mbarara City in the ongoing 2025/26 Uganda Premier League.
SC Villa sealed a well-deserved 3-1 victory against Mbarara City in the UPL encounter at the Rwamwanja Stadium, Kamwenge on Wednesday.
Najib Yiga nearly breaks the deadlock with a shot but Mbarara City goalkeeper Stuart Hussein Kafuluma made a stunning save in the 17th minute.
Geoffrey Gaganga found the back of the net in the 28th minute but the referee cancelled it, judging that Frank Ssebuufu handled the ball in the build-up.
Muhammad Kanyike found the back of the net but the strike was flagged offside.
Clinton Kamugisha gave Mbarara City the lead in the 69th minute. Kamugisha’s free kick bounced in front of the goalkeeper before it went into the net.
Charles Lwanga quickly responded with a tap-in from close range after the hosts failed to clear their lines in the 71st minute.
Two minutes later, Lwanga placed Villa in the driving seat. The forward was set up by Patrick Kakande before he fired home inside the left goal post.
The victory takes SC Villa to the third position with 55 points while Mbarara City remains 12th on the log after playing 28 league games.
In the 81st minute, Andrew Otim put the icing on the cake. Mbarara City’s backline once again looked poor and Otim punished them.
