Lightweight boxing fighter Sharif “Lion” Bogere, will be elevated to number 10 when the latest World Boxing Council ratings are released soon after the World Boxing Council held it’s convention recently in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Bogere, has turned his career around this year winning three straight fights and thus putting himself back into the Big picture in his 135 weight division with a possible show down for a world title in his class next year.

“The Lion is going to eat someone up in 2015 and it’s going to be a big year for Sharif,” Oscar De La Hoya, his promoter said in a Youtube clip at the WBC convention. “It’s going to be Lion time next year.”

Bogere, suffered his first defeat against Cuban Richar Abril in 2013 in a WBA World lightweight title fight, but in the process suffered a recurring leg injury he underwent treatment and therapy that has made him much stronger and better.

“I am adamant about that fight I was the better fighter against Abril and he can’t ask for a rematch because he knows I will beat him,” Bogere bragged. “I have become a much better fighter and I now have been trained to land punches that will finish off my opponent.”

Bogere is trained by Kenny Adams, who has been training him for a long while.

Injured Omar Figueroa Jr. was stripped of his lightweight world title recently and given the designation of “champion in recess” by the WBC, paving the way for Jorge Linares and Javier Prieto to battle for the vacant 135-pound belt.

Linares (37-3, 24 KOs), a former featherweight and junior lightweight titlist, will face Mexico’s Prieto (24-7-2, 18 KOs) for the vacant title on Dec. 30 in Tokyo, according to matchmaker Robert Diaz of Golden Boy Promotions, which promotes Linares and Figueroa.

Figueroa has said he wants to move to up to the 140-pound junior welterweight division, but should he remain at 135 pounds, the WBC mandated that the Linares-Prieto winner must face him when he decides to return to the ring.

Bogere is waiting in the wings for a title fight next year and Golden Promotions will surely give him a world title shot next year.
