Uganda Professional Boxing Commission, has withdrawn its plans to host the Africa Boxing Union convention that was due from June 4-6 at Hotel Africana.

“The commission had to cancel it’s plans of hosting the convention due to logistic problems,” the commission’s public relation officer Isaac Mumena stated. “UPBC will not host the event next year at a time that will shall notify the public.”

Uganda last hosted the convention in 2006 which attracted 34 African countries. This year’s convention was expected to attract 40-50 African nations and was to be attended by Tunisian and ABU president Houcine Hoichi, who leaves in France.

UPBC’s former president Celestino Mindra, is the Africa Boxing Union general secretary. 

The union members were expected to discussing developments of the sports and new regulations together with members working on fourthcoming boxing fights and the new rankings at the same time.
