CECAFA 2015 1st Quarter final: Uganda 1-0 Malawi (Half time)
Uganda Cranes team captain Farouk Miya’ s opener after just six minutes gives Uganda a comfort zone by the opening 45 minutes against 2015 CECAFA guest team, Malawi in the first quarter final.
The goal is Miya’s third in four matches following his brace against Zanzibar in Uganda’s 4-0 group B victory.
Head coach called for four changes to the side that won 1-0 over Burundi. Kezironi Kizito replaced Muzamiru Mutyaba in the middle of the pack, goal keeper Ismail Watenga marked his first start of the tournament.
Denis Okot returned to the starting line up after Joseph Nsubuga had taken his place in the last group match.
Left footed player, Isaac Muleme also returned to the team since Uganda’ s match day one.
Miya had a chance to doubel the lead but was reluctant to shoot when he broke clear of goal.
Bar the goal and Miya’s miss, there has not been any close occasion that would arouse excitement.
There is plenty of playing time left on the clock as the second half comes knocking. Hosts, Ethiopia play Tanzania in the second game.
