UCU Canons 55-67 City Oilers (Oilers lead series 2-0)

Kami Kabange and Jimmy Enabu have brought home City Oilers the last two National Basketball League champions.

The pair along with the rest of the City Oilers cast are engineering a third straight title in as many years of playing in the National Basketball League.

After a slow start in which they were out scored 19-10 in the opening period, Oilers responded with a 23-6 second quarter and did not lock bck. Oilers were as exhilarating as Canons were abominable especially offensively as they took may rushed bad shots some of which Oilers’ defense had to do with.

Kabange and Enabu scored 21 points apiece in the 67-55 Game 2 victory to take command of the seven game series on Sunday night at Lugogo. Landry Ndikumana contributed 11 points while Samuel Kalwanyi and James Okello had  7 points each off the bench.

Desmond Owili paced Canons with 15 points and 13 boards. shooting guard, Steven Wundi matched team high 15 points while Ivan Lumanyika had 10 and 10.

Game 3 of the series is on Wednesday night at Lugogo.

Meanwhile A1 Challenge and KIU Titans took third place in the women’s and men’s divisions respectively after seeing off KIU Rangers and Tiger Head Power in the third place playoff games.
