One of Uganda’s Group D opponents at the fourth edition of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) and 2014 semifinalists Zimbabwe will enter camp on Sunday to start preparations for the January 17-Febuary 17 finals in Rwanda.
According to supersport.com, Zimbabwe Football Federation Association (ZIFA) spokesperson Xolisani Gwesela announced the commencement of camp on Sunday.
Warriors representing our beautiful country in the CHAN finals are expected to troop into on Sunday, 13th December. Normal training sessions are expected to commence on Monday, 14th December. Letters have already been sent to their respective clubs. We are very confident that Pasuwa and his indefatigable troops will grind a positive result.
The side nicknamed the Warriors are being handled by Callisto Pasuwa who last week names a 32-member provisional squad of local-based players that would be trimmed to 24 men just before departure for Kigali.
Zimbabwe together with DR Congo are the only nations to have played at all the Past three CHAN editions, although Congo were the inaugural winners in 2009, the Warriors best position was fourth position at the 2014 edition in South Africa.
Zimbabwe’s opening tie will be against neighbors Zambia on January 19, before they take on Mali on January 23, their last group game will come against Uganda four days later.
