After signing marksman Ceaser Okhuti, KCCA are not resting on their laurels with reports they are nearing the capture of their former striker Herman Wasswa.
Wasswa was part of the players that left the Lugogo based club in June last year but his spell in Sofapaka was cut short by the club’s failure to honour their contractual obligations.
He returned to Kampala after scoring twice in four starts for the club in the Sportpesa Kenya Premier League and immediately started training with KCCA to keep his fitness levels up.
With reports that FIFA has cleared him to leave the financially struggling Kenyan side, he is free to join any club and the ten times league champions have shown interest.
“We have been monitoring him since return and would love to see him back here,” a close source at Lugogo revealed. “We all know what he brings to the team in terms of goals,” he added.
In case Wasswa joins KCCA, he will reunite with Coach Mike Mutebi who coached him at SC Villa between 2011 and 2012. At the start of the 2014/15 league campaign, Mutebi; in an interview with the Daily Monitor described Wasswa as a promising player who is good with both feet and head although he needed to improve his off the ball movement.
He is a promising player. Comfortable with both feet, good with his head, he only needs to improve his movement off the ball. And those are things that can be coached if he is handled well.
KCCA are also interested in signing of Police FC goalie Douglas Kisembo as well as midfielder Rahmat Ssenfuka.
Vipers, SC Villa and URA FC join race for Wasswa
Meanwhile, rumor circulating around indicate that other giants URA FC, SC Villa and champions Vipers have also inquired about the availability of Wasswa.
It remains to be seen where he will end but it appears that he will be playing in the Uganda Premier League in the second round of the campaign.
