Uganda Cranes up coming fixtures:

  • International build up: Uganda Cranes Vs Kenya – Tues, 30th August 2016 – Namboole (4 p.m)
  • AFCON 2017 Group D Qualifier: Uganda Cranes Vs Comoros – Sun, 4th September 2016 – Namboole (5 p.m)

Defender Bevis Mugabi will have to wait a little longer before earning his first cap for the Uganda national football team, Uganda Cranes.

The lanky and well built youngster will not to Kampala to join the Uganda Cranes currently preparing for the international build up with Kenya and the AFCON 2017 qualifier against Comoros because his new club Yeovil Town football club.

“Bevis (Mugabi) informed that he will not travel because his the club was informed on a short notice. It is unfortunate but we shall move ahead with the preparations” Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredejovic, the Uganda Cranes head coach told Kawowo Sports.

The situation now means that there are two natural right backs that remain in the team camp – Joseph Nsubuga (Sports Club Villa Jogoo) and Nicholas Wadada (Vipers Sports Club) who will vie for the slot alongside experienced St George defender Isaac Isinde, usually employed as a center half.

Isinde played at right back when Uganda defeated Ghana 1-0 at the Nelson Mandela National Stadium in 2014.

The development comes in the wake of Dennis Iguma’s suspension for the game against Comoros having accumulated two yellow cards.

Micho remains hopeful Mugabi will still be considered for the future of the team.

At the moment, we have to concentrate on the two upcoming matches. The good thing Yeovil Town wrote and explained the situation.

Mugabi has played in all Yeovil Town’s fixtures at right back since switching allegiance from Southampton.

Uganda Cranes play host to Kenya in the international friendly match on Tuesday before taking on Comoros in the decider.

Both games shall be played at Nelson Mandela National Stadium.
