Professional football club, based in Kolkata, India – East Bengal Football Club is likely to sign Ugandan footballer Ivan Bukenya.
Bukenya had his contract with Chiefs terminated at the end of June before being placed on the Amakhosi transfer list. He was later let go.
Now a new club, one of the most consistent in the India National Football League (I League) is planning to have a trial and a medical test with the player.
According to Goal, Bukenya could replace British defender Calum Angus, who was hospitalized during the Bordoloi Trophy with Dengue.
The I-League is expected to kick-off on 7th January, 2017 and by then, Bukenya may have already put pen to paper for a contract.
The ex-Proline Proline defender signed a two-year renewable deal after impressing Coach Stuart Baxter on a two weeks trial at Kaizer Chiefs two years ago.
Then, he became the third Ugandan in the PSL in the 2013/14 season joining striker Geoffrey Massa who featured at Pretoria University and custodian Denis Onyango at Bidvest Wits.
