Kariobangi Sharks 1-0 Nzoia United
Former AFC Leopards midfielder Patillah Omotto scored the lone strike on the day for Kariobangi Sharks against Nzoia United during the final day of the 2016 National Super League at Sudi Stadium on Saturday.
The goal guaranteed Kariobangi Sharks a berth in the Kenya Premier League. Nzoia United earned their promotion a month ago and were unbeaten at home-coming to this match.
Nzoia United finished with 92 points, 9 better of the Sharks. An excited Kariobangi Sharks head coach William Muluhya hailed his charges who contained the pressure.
He was quoted by the Nation Media;
We expected the match to be tough because Nzoia re a very tough side, though the pressure was less on them compared to us
Zoo Kericho and Nakumatt FC finished third and fourth respectively.
The two sides could also be promoted if Football Kenya Federation passes the proposal to increase the clubs in the top flight from 16 to 18 next season.
The Kenya Premier League wants to retain the 16 clubs format but the federation proposes 18.
