SC Villa can go to the top of the Uganda Premier League table for the first time this season if they avoid loss against The Saints at Matugga on Tuesday.

They trail leaders KCCA on goal difference, albeit with three games over the Kasasiro and a point or three will see them move top for at least when KCCA plays their games in hand.

Tuesday’s fixture comes two days after the Jogoos thrashed Onduparaka 4-1 at Masaka Recreation Ground and Wasswa Bbosa, their coach hopes the boys will build on that victory.

“It was good win for us on Sunday and that gives us more belief going into the game against The Saints,” he said.

The visitors may still continue without first choice centre back Paul Mbowa as well as winger Godfrey Lwesibawa who are out injured.

Alex Kitaata, formerly at the Saints comes up against his former paymasters and despite failing to hit the back of the net; he was a menace to the Onduparaka backline on Sunday and may be trusted again to partner Emmanuel Okwi in attack.

With 6 goals in as many matches since joining the Blues, Okwi will be the main attacking threat to the hosts backline led by skipper Denis Sekitoleko.

Another anticipated battle will be in the middle where veteran Noah Kasule faces in form Taddeo Lwanga.

Moses Basena’s side are not yet safe from the drop despite sitting 11th on the log with 23 points and that gives them more urge to fight for maximum points.

The Jogoos won the reverse fixture 2-1 at Namboole and a double would be their target.
