For the first time numerous attempts, SC Villa have assumed table leadership for at least two weeks when the league returns from the break.

Emmanuel Okwi and John Adriko scored in the second half at Champions stadium, Mwererwe as the Jogoos beat The Saints 2-0.

The 16-time league champions were frustrated in the first half as the home side defended for their life on a chilly afternoon.

But the deadlock was broken two minutes after the hour mark thanks to on form Emmanuel Okwi whose scorcher from over 25 yards hit the back of the net.

Adriko, who had a brilliant game against Onduparaka on Sunday, doubled the visitors’ lead ten minutes later to ensure safety of maximum points with another wonder strike to send the Jogoo faithful into frenzy.

With 44 points now, SC Villa are now table leaders, three points better than second placed KCCA who have played four games less while The Saints are 13th with 23 points.
