The first battle of Ugandan coaches in the 2017 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) ended in a four goal thriller as Sam Ssimbwa’s Sofapaka held George ‘Best’ Nsimbe’s Tusker at Thika Municipal stadium.

Ugandan forward Petit Wanok, formerly at Maroons, SC Victoria University and KCCA opened the scores as early as thirty seconds for Ssimbwa’s charges but Michael Khamati and Allan Wanga scored to give the Brewers a 2-1 half time lead.

Moses Odhiambo evened the tie a couple of minutes after recess but despite the endless attacks from either side, the result remained unchanged as both sides took home a point.

On the part of the Batoto Ba Mungu, goalie Mathias Kigonya made a couple of good saves to deny Khamati and Wanga.

Besides the ex-Bright Stars goalkeeper and Wanok, compatriots James Kasibante, Jonathan Mugabi, Johnson Bagoole (Sofapaka), Marlon Tangauzi – formerly at Kira Young and The Saints, Moses Ndaula and Shafik Batambuze (Tusker) also featured.

Sofapaka are now 5th on 7 points after 4 games while Tusker now lies 14th with four points from as many games.
