
For days ago, Uganda Cranes coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojević hinted at the national team playing a high profile build up to the 2019 AFCON qualifiers game against Cape Verde.
The opponent in the friendly was later revealed to be Senegal – a team that is returning to their best in African football.
With the qualifiers expected to be played between June 9-11, 2017 (the dates designated by CAF), the friendly was set for Tuesday, June 6.
And Micho looks at the game as one that will be used to assess the readiness of Cranes to start the qualifiers.
“We have provided high profile International friendly match against Senegal. (It) will answer us how ready we are for AFCON qualifiers Cameroon 2019,” he said.
FUFA is expected to meet with Uganda Cranes technical team for further preparations ahead of the upcoming international engagements starting with the 2019 Nations Cup qualifiers where Uganda was drawn in Group L with Cape Verde, Tanzania and Lesotho.
Meanwhile, the national team will also play against West Nile select team in Paidha, Zombo in a Regional Tour match next weekend.
The Serbian coach is expected to name the team for the match during the course of next week.
