When the Rugby Cranes face off with Kenyan side Kabras Sugar on Wednesday, it will be a chance for the new kids on the block to convince coach Robert Sseguya that they can handle the national team task.
The national team assistant coach is expected to field a team featuring most of the new faces in the side’s first trial game in Kakamega.
“Everyone will get a chance. I have two games in Kenya and the selection process is no joke,” Sseguya told Kawowo Sports before the team’s departure on Tuesday morning.
“After Kabras I will have a clear picture of what the team will look like,” the former Rugby Cranes star revealed.
With the tier 1A tournament looming, Sseguya and his charges don’t have a lot of time for preparations and will hope for a good test from the Kenyan side.
“We are trying to prepare within the means and am sure Kabras will give us a good test,” Sseguya added.
Uganda will start the busy schedule on June 10 with a clash against neighbours Kenya in the first leg of the Elgon Cup in Kampala.
Youngsters Aaron Ofoyrwoth, Paul Epilu and Eliphaz Emong are all expected to start against Kambras in the first game on Wednesday.
Starting Lineup for Wednesday: Santos Ssenteza, Joseph Tamale, Collins Kimbowa, Robert Aziku, Arthur Mpade, Eliphaz Emongo, John Wandicho, Ronald Musajjagulanyago, Paul Epilu, Aaron Ofoyrwoth, Ramathan Govule, Gerald Ssewankabo, Pius Ogena, Solomon Okia and Fred Odur
