Thirty six months after celebrating promotion from the FUFA Big League, Sadolin Paints have kissed goodbye to the Uganda Premier League with a game still to play, losing 1-0 at home to Express FC.

The bitter defeat hammered the last nails into their coffin and brought a surrender that will lead straight back to the nation’s second tier football division.

Mahad ‘Yaya’ Kakooza scored the winner for the Red Eagles at Namboole as early as 9th minute and it was enough to return the visitors to winning ways but also relegate the Painters.

The Jinja side has struggled to pick points ever since they relocated to Namboole from Bugembe after the first half of the season and it hurt them to the grave.

With 26 points and just a game to play, the most points the Painters can collect is 29 points yet they are four points adrift of safety.

Meanwhile, maximum points take Express’ tally to 43 after 29 games and remain stuck in 6th on the 16-team log.
