Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) has confirmed the postponement of the Total 2019 AFCON qualifier between Cape Verde and Uganda Cranes.

The game was due to be played on Saturday, 10th June 2017 in Praia.

Delays for part of team Uganda members to travel from Senegal to Cape Verde has led to the postponement.

The match will now be played on Sunday 11th June, 2017 with the time yet to be confirmed.

7 players of the Uganda Cranes contingent had arrived in Praia on Friday evening with the remaining group expected on Saturday morning.

The seven who traveled on Friday were Shaban Muhammad, Derrick Nsibambi, Emmanuel Okwi, Geoffrey Sserunkuma defenders Isaac Muleme and Bernard Muwanga and Danish based midfielder Robert Kakeeto.

However, travel hitches from Dakar International Airport delayed the remaining team members to depart until Saturday afternoon, barely 3 hours to the game.

FUFA President Moses Magogo who was part of the group in Dakar then acted swiftly to notify the continental body about the misfortunes encountered.

The FUFA Communications director Ahmed Hussein confirmed the new development.

“The match has been pushed ahead to Sunday. The players’ condition is good and we are ready to play. The time of kick off will be confirmed later,” Hussein stated.

The other group game between Tanzania and Lesotho ended in a one all draw at the national stadium in Dar es Salaam.
