Several crews have advanced their Pearl of Africa Rally preparations by flying in British mapper Terry Stamper.

Stamper, the owner of ProMap Limited in United Kingdom arrived in the country on Tuesday to add a fix to local crews cars ahead of next weekend’s rally.

Ronald Sebuguzi, Kuku Ranjit, Duncan Mubiru, Andy Musoke and Hassan Alwi had their cars mapped during the week.

Sebuguzi who is currently leading the NRC is expected to champion the Pearl contention. He will be going off the ramp first.

“This is the Pearl Rally. It is a rally I have never won. So I have at least done everything to ensure that we do well.

“Our car had lost some power and the best way to get us into some speed is by getting Stamper to fix some things.

“The car now feels different. Let us see what it can deliver in Pearl,” said Sebuguzi.

Andy Musoke also expects a much better performance after a fix on the Evo VI.

“We fixed a new engine in our car and mapping became inevitable to ensure that the engine sync with the whole system.”

“We are hopeful of a great race during the Pearl Rally. We shall do whatever we can and see where we finish,” he said.

The 2017 Pearl of Africa Rally has attracted 56 crews including foreign crews from Zambia, Rwanda, Kenya, Burundi and Belgium.
