Kampala Hockey Club Stallions ran out easy winners over Simba on Sunday as they secured their second victory of the season in form of a resounding 4-0 win to send them top of the National Hockey League.
Benjamin Mkapa, scorer of the equalizer against Weatherhead gave Bernard Bwire’s side a deserved lead in the 21st minute, before the team’s vice-captain Dulf Musoke doubling the advantage shortly after.
The Stallions’ dominance continued in the second period, with Mkapa scoring the third just after restart to take his tally this season to three goals making him the leading goal getter currently, and Faustine Ojangole completed the scoring with nine minutes remaining on the clock.
Bwire had been wary of Simba after watching them convincingly thump Rockets last weekend. The coach expected a tautly contested affair, but to everyone’s surprise, it turned out a one sided affair.
Simba put five past Rockets in their first game and conceded none. It turned out a reverse on Sunday.
Simba suffered a double loss when they lost Maxwell Mugisha to injury a minute after recess. Mugisha sustained a deep cut injury on his head.
KHC remain the only team in the men’s division to win both their first two games. They climbed top of the table, and lead with 6 points collected from two games.
Simba drop to second.
