A famous orator, Milton Berle for the record is quoted, “when opportunity doesn’t knock, you build a door”
Experienced coach Richard Makumbi boldly attests to the aforementioned saying.
Every time he envisages an opportunity to improve on ‘his outspoken record’ of promoting clubs from the second division tier (FUFA Big League) to the top flight, he grabs it with open hands.
Makumbi is likely to quit newly promoted Uganda Premier League club, Mbarara City for Sadolin Paints who were relegated from the top tier league at the end of last season.
He agreed terms with Sadolin Paints for a one-year deal with the top priority being helping the club attain promotion.
“That is the nature of life. I have nothing to do when a chance comes calling. Coaches are like that. Today you are here, tomorrow you are there. We have discussed with Sadolin Paints although they are yet to conclude. Mbarara Ciy is supposed to send me transport,” Makumbi noted.
Makumbi was also in charge of Mbarara City during the 1-0 pre season win against Express at the Kakyeka stadium in Mbarara last month.
Former Lweza F.C coach Vialli Bianomugisha is expected to work hand in hand with Makumbi in case he turns up for duty at Mbarara.
Over the years, Makumbi has used his expertise to see the promotion of a couple of clubs like BUL, SCOUL, Soana, Nile and recently Mbarara City.
He is known for his hands on approach, great inter personal relations with players as well as the vast football knowledge.
Often, he does not last at the clubs he has helped attain promotion.
