After a narrow 1 run loss last weekend to Kutchi Tigers, Challengers need to get back to winning ways but a game against KICC wont be that easy.
Having lost to the same team in the first round failing to chase 93, Challengers need to regroup if they are to have a chance of winning the league this year.
Arthur Kyobe got some welcome runs and over the weekend against Kutchi and it’s important he continues the same form for Challengers if they are to win. However, in Irfan Afrid, Hamu Kayondo, David Wabwire and Shazad Kamala Challengers has enough fire power.
KICC on the other hand have won their last 3 games on the bounce and they will be confident of beating rivals Challengers.
Captain Haumant Kathkar will be looking to his national team duo of Davis Karashani and Frank Nsubuga to deliver the win for him. This fixture will be played at Kyambogo.
Damani take on relegation threatened Charity in Lugogo. The former are coming off a big win against Nile last weekend and it will be hard for Charity to cause an upset given the quality in the Damani side.
Nile is no push over as they can cause an upset therefore Steve Tikolo and company will have to step up.
Kutchi Tigers battle nearly relegated Partidar in Entebbe and this fixture will surely go only one way. Partidar hasn’t been interested this season and there is always doubt whether they will show up for their next encounter.
Kutchi on the other hand picked up a big win last Sunday defeating Challengers by 1 run. Captain Alpesh Hirani says they are aiming for a top 3 finish and shouldn’t be taken lightly.
ACC battles Strikers in a Division 2 game to be played in Buddo. Both teams won last Sunday and this will be a close game. The form table is even for both teams as each has won its last 2 games and the first round fixture ended in a draw after rain messed up a game that was poised for fireworks. Strikers had set 99 but in reply ACC was 47/7 before the heavens opened and game couldn’t be completed.
In a derby of the great cricket schools, Mwiri faces Buddo in a Division 3 game on Saturday. Gerald Orumos brutal hitting blew away Mwiri in the first round game giving Buddo the bragging rights.
Abu Mayanja the Buddo captain missed that game because of Ramadhan but his return will be needed as he will be missing his strike bowler Amos Sitenda because the game is out of school.
Speaking ahead of the game, Mayanja noted;
This return leg is not as built up as the first leg but nevertheless it remains a crunch tie as both teams will playing for pride with no clear path to promotion. It will be Buddo’s first match on grass in over a year and will serve as a good test for our skills and application.
Unfortunately we do not have the school team members available for this tie and we shall miss them especially Amos Sitenda who blew Mwiri away in a devastating spell of fast bowling in the reverse fixture last month but we hope to utilize the available resources.
We welcome back our main bowler Taha Ahmed who we hope will be a handful on the grass wicket with his spin. We also hope that Orumo Gerald will continue his devastating form with the bat.
Win toss and stick the opposition in then come chase the runs.
