Former National Basketball League champions Nkumba Marines are likely to return to division they only left last year.

And playing against five-time champions Power, the 2005 and 2006 winners stood no chance.

Power have already lost to relegation candidates UPDF Tomahawks and were not going to let another game slip as they showed intention right from start winning the opening quarter 18-10.

Marines fought back in the second frame but still fell short 18-19 and it was all Power in the third which they took 23-14 before edging the last 17-16.

MVP candidate Micheal Mikiadi scored game high 18 points to lead Power who played a nine-man rotation. Francis ‘Odom’ Kasinde added 16 points. Isaac Afidra, Willy Nijimbere and Paul Odong chipped in with 13, 11 and 10 points respectively.

Umar Walugembe and Brian Sivachi had 13 and 12 points respectively for Nkumba.
