Robert ‘Mwenda’ Sentongo while still at Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club

Four-time Uganda Premier League top scorer, Robert ‘Mwenda’ Ssentongo is on the brink of signing for Ethiopia Premier side Fasil Kenema.

The diminutive center forward traveled to the Gonderian based club last week having been cleared by the Entebbe International Airport Immigration department after an earlier mix up.

Ssentongo had been blocked by the immigration officials and denied to leave the country on grounds that he only had a one way ticket.

After just one training session, head coach Getu Mentsnote was reportedly left impressed by the forward’s on and off the ball movements, awareness as well as the sharp shooting skills and eye for goal.

He is thus expected to lead the Emperors’ striking line ahead of the new season.

Ssentongo’s current at KCCA F.C expires at the end of the month and manager Mike Mutebi has indicated that he will not renew the center forward’s contract.

In case the deal makes a break through, this will be his second spell in Ethiopia, having played for St George in 2012-13 season.

Sentongo previously played at URA, SC Villa and lately for the reigning Uganda Premier League champions, KCCA Football Club.
