Newly promoted Mbarara City Football Club head coach Richard Makumbi has reported gone missing from his official duties.

Makumbi, who guided the side to promotion from the second tier division (FUFA Big League) skipped the club’s season opener away from home to BUL Football club in Jinja where his assistant Villai Bianomugisha handled them in the goal-less affair at the Kakindu stadium.

Prior to the match on Tuesday, the coach informed the team management that he had a wedding.

Ironically, none of the club officials attended the wedding.

Now, reliable information indicates that Makumbi is reportedly in Kenya for ‘Honey moon’.

For starters, Makumbi had just signed a one year contract extension although he remained an aggrieved party after he was reportedly denied sign-on fees.

Before signing the contract extension at Mbarara City, Makumbi had a divided mind as he weighed offers from Sadolin Paints Football Club for a possible move (Sadolin Paints have since had Steven Bogere).

Kawowo Sports has learnt that Makumbi has also penned a new deal at KPL side Western Stima Football Club.

Over the years, Makumbi has used his expertise to see the promotion of a couple of clubs like BUL, SCOUL, Soana, Nile and recently Mbarara City.

He is known for his hands-on approach, great inter personal relations with players as well as the vast football knowledge.

Often, he does not last at the clubs he has helped attain promotion.
