Kampala International University (KIU) kicked off the National Beach Soccer League with a 5-4 victory over the Kyadondo Galacticals on Match Day One.
Geoffrey Akabwai, Isaac Itayokhai (2), Paul Isaac Odeke and Experito Muwonge were all target for the Kasanga based university side.
Kyadondo Galaticals fought gallantly and replied through Dennis Sserukwaya, Eddie Kityo (2) and Abdul Karim Kibalama.
The opening period of the game ended 2 all. KIU took a goal lead in the second period as they led 4-3.
The tense and final period ended with both sides scoring twice as KIU smiled to a 5-4 win in a 9 goal thriller.
In the other matches on the day, Makindye Ssabagabo Sand Lions smiled to a 6-3 win against debutants Mutoola Beach in a match Rajab Okello struck four goals as an individual.
Buganda Royal humbled another debutant side Nkumba University a 4-3. Emmanuel Wasswa got the two goals for Nkumba University. Buganda Royal’s goals came from Peter Waswa, Primo Kimera and Paul Kalule’s brace.
There were two women matches played. KJT Ladies overcame Talented 2-1, Mutesa 1 Royal University defeated Buganda Royal University 4-2.
The league returns on Sunday, 24th September 2017 with match day two games.
