Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has been in the search for a Micho’s replacement after the tactician left over financial misunderstanding and several have been fronted to permanently take over.

Among them are locals Moses Basena – who was appointed to handle the team on interim basis alongside Fred Kajoba, Ibrahim Sekagya and Matia Lule – Jackson ‘Mia Mia’ Mayanja plus Sam Timbe.

Onyango says despite the fact that the country’s own need to be trusted, they could find a hard time making decisions of their own and standing by them.

“Although we need to start trusting our local coaches despite their weaknesses, they need to step up and stand their ground on certain things,” the Mamelodi Sundowns shot-stopper told BBC Sport.

“I don’t see in Uganda local coaches who can take decisions and own them.”

Foreign coaches in Antonio Flores, Honour Janza, Ferreira Joao, Adel Amrouche, Lucy Eymael, Claude Le Roy, Williamson Bobby among others have applied for the job as well and the skipper says atleast one those could keep Cranes in contention for big things.

Due to the nature of the players we have, there is certain kind of football that we cannot play and so we shouldn’t bring in a coach who will have to start from scratch to learn the African style and approach

It is very important for us to return to the the Africa Cup of Nations in 2019 and that has got to do with the kind of coach who will be appointed, we could easily fail if we have a coach who cannot fit well with our style.

FUFA is yet to reveal how many have shown interest in the job but an official announcement on who will become the new national team head coach will be made on November 15.
