Benson Ocen needs no introduction when it comes to beach soccer and football in general.

The Police Football Club forward in the Uganda Premier League is magical on the sand, like he is on grass.

Having guided Makerere University Business School (MUBS) to their third beach soccer league glory, Ocen handed in a transfer request.

He thus moved to the YMCA Beach Soccer team this season and has continued to replicate the form of old.

Against Kyadondo Galaticos on match day 6 of the national league at Lido Beach, Ocen single handedly pressed the demolition button as Julius Lutwama’s coached side won 6-3.

Ocen scored four times to supplement on Denis Serukuwaya’s own goal and Rogers Omuna’s other goal.

The Galaticos replied through the usual suspect Abdul ‘Alvaro’ Karim Kibalama, Serukwaya and Allan Katwe’s own goal.

“I can not take the credit alone. It is always down to teamwork. I thank the rest of the members for the brave and spirited show” Ocen, a soft spoken entity said after the match.

In the other matches, Talented outwitted Mengo Hospital 3-1. John Ssekandi, Rufus Kinoso Okoi and Joseph Nyenje scored for Talented before Daniel Mugabi pulled one back for Mengo Hospital.

Stormers’ 7-4 victory against Mutoola Resort was the biggest score margin for the men on the day.

Masavu defender Ibrahim Pengere and George Oketch got three goals each for Stormers.

Matia Olum scored the other goal for Stormers team.

Joseph Ntegeyza, Tomaso Kimuli, Godfrey Mugambwa and Nasif Kabuye’s own goal ensured Mutoola Resort paste some colour and respectable second look onto the final scoreline.

Meanwhile, MUBS stands to lose three goals and points apiece after they failed to show up for their match against Buganda Royal University.

The league competitions department will come up with a ruling in the shortest time ahead.

“MUBS communicated early morning that they would not be able to honour their fixture. This is very unprofessional” Sarah Birungi, the in charge of competitions at Uganda Beach Soccer Association (UBSA) secretariat told Kawowo Sports.
