Bernard Muwanga admits it’s tougher to maintain top spot than chase it but says SC Villa players have the character and mental toughness to soak the pressure.

The Jogoos opened a five point lead following a 3-0 victory over Masavu after KCCA, Police and Vipers faltered on the same day.

“We are happy with our form at the moment,” said Muwanga. “It feels good to keep winning and performing well,” he added.

Being top comes with pressure. Actually, there is more pressure at the top than chasing but we are mentally prepared and have the character to stay top.

Muwanga who opened the scoring against Masavu with a header off Martin Kizza corner also says the players are motivated by the prospect of being champions.

As players, we want to be champions and that’s the biggest motivating factor.

SC Villa haven’t won the league title since 2004 despite coming close in the previous three seasons.
