Ugandan born offensive midfielder Joseph Mbolimbo Mpande has switched allegiance to another club (Handtharwaddy United F.C) in Myanmar for a season.

For starters, Handthawaddy United Football Club features in the Myanmar Top flight league since its inception in 2009.

Mpande, 26, had previously played at City Yangon and Horizon in Myanmar’s lower division.

At City Yagon, he had established a cult status when he became the talk of town for his his goal scoring exploits that witnessed him score as many as 6 hat-tricks in a season and was also the league top scorer.

He had returned to his native country where he was also unveiled among the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) Football Club new recruits but his move never materialized because of the delay to secure the International Transfer Certificate (ITC).

Mpande’s transfer to Handthawaddy United comes at a time two second division Croatian clubs NK Dugopolje and Zagreb based NK Hrvatski Dragovoljac had reportedly interested in his services, according to his Ugandan based Turkish representative, Omer Selli.

The former Vipers and Ndejje University play maker left Uganda for Myanmar in 2016 in a stormy transfer that left some of the top club officials at Vipers surprised of the move since it was conducted behind their backs.

Consequentially, the local football governing body, FUFA slapped a 16 months’ ban on a former secretary and Transfer Matching System official for the Vipers, Harunah Kyobe.

The two other officials Tadius Kitandwe and Richard Ssemanda were later proven clean of any wrong doing in the case.
