Kampala Regional League side Kampala Junior Team (KJT) has sent the early shock waves in the 2017-18 FUFA Uganda Cup.
KJT eliminated URA Football Club out of the oldest knock out cup competition following a 1-0 victory at Nelson Mandela National Stadium, Namboole on Sunday.
Immensely skilled Nicholas ”Zico” Kabonge scored the all important goal in the 25th minute after Allan Sserunga’s assist.

KJT adavanced to the last 32 stage to join the earlier clubs that had won their respective games on Saturday.
To reach this far, KJT had eliminated Spartan, Soana Young, Lamasia and Najja Stars in the preliminary rounds late last year.
Meanwhile, three clubs failed to travel for their Round of 64 engagements. Two FUFA Big League clubs Kataka and Jinja Municipal Council (JMC) Hippos as well as regional side Light S.S failed to travel for their away ties in Lira, Entebbe and Arua respectively.
JMC Hippos failed to honour their away match against UPL side Masavu at the lake side Fisheries Training Institute playground in Bugonga, Entebbe while Mbale based Kataka was a no show at Lira United and Light S.S did not honour their trip to Arua where they were supposed to play Onduparaka at the Green Light stadium.

Shafik Bisaso’s coach Express Football Club registered a 6-0 convincing win over Kachumbala Rock Stars played at Mutesa II Wankulukuku Stadium. Birungi scored three times before Juma Ssebaduka’s brace and a powerful header from defender Ronnie Kiseeka.
Big League outfit Kansai Plascon condemned Butyaba Red Stars 6-1.
It was a bright start for James at the helm of Nyamityobora winning 5-0 on the road to Pallisa Young. Former URA forward David Kizza scored a hat-trick in the game. Charles Ssebutinde, son to Uganda Cranes assistant coach, Mathias Lule added the other goals.
Arua Tigers progressed to the last 32 stage after a hard fought 4-3 post match penalty shootout against Kireka United at the outside training ground of Mandela National Stadium, Namboole. The ninty (90) minutes had ended one goal apiece.
Big League side Bumate United from Bundibujo also required a tense 4-3 post match penalty win over Nabitende United after normal time ended goal-less.
The other matches at the Round of 64 will be completed on Sunday before KCCA, Vipers, SC Villa kick off next weekend.
KCCA is cup holder of the FUFA Uganda Cup.
