  • CAF Champions League – Preliminary Round (Return Leg):
  • KCCA 1-0 CNaps Sport (Aggregate: 2-2)

Ethiopia Premier League record winners, St George Football Club will face Uganda’s representatives, Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) during the first round of the CAF Champions League early next month.

Robert Odongkara has been St George’s first choice goalkeeper for the past five season

The duel was confirmed on Tuesday after KCCA overcame Madagsacar opponents, CNaps 1-0 at the KCCA Stadium in Lugogo.

Paul Mucureezi scored the lone strike on the day in the 64th minute.

KCCA will now face St George, which is home to Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Robert Odongkara.

For starters, Odongkara is among the goalkeepers who have been long serving at the national team.

The lanky former SC Villa and URA goalkeeper was among the three goalkeepers who featured at the 2017 African Cup of Nations in Gabon as Uganda Cranes returned  to the biggest footballing fiesta on the continent after 38 years.

Odongkara has played at St George since 2012 when he left Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) Football for greener pastures.

For 5 years in a row, he has been named as the goalkeeper of the year in Ethiopia.

Other Ugandans who have played at St George include striker Brian Umony, Yassar Mugerwa, Mike Sserumaga, Robert Sentongo, Hassan Wasswa Mawanda and Posnet Omony among others.

KCCA manager Mike Mutebi believes the duel will be an entertaining contest.

“St. George is a good passing side. They know how to use the ball. It will be an interesting contest” Mutebi told the media at the post match press conference.

A couple of established Ethiopian players as Behailu Assefa and Karim Nikiema will feature in the game.
