The first batch of sports equipment donated by Chinese city, Wuhan to Entebbe Municipality football teams were successfully dispatched.

Three clubs namely; Masavu, playing in the top tier Azam Uganda Premier League, Taggy Girls School –Wakiso district girls football league and Kiggungu Mapeera, a fifth division club received their sporting gear at the Fisheries Training Institute on Wednesday.
This happened moments after a ten man Masavu held Mbarara City to a one all draw in a top flight national football league engagement.
The sporting gear included; 18 pairs of jerseys, 18 playing boots, 18 shin guards as well as 10 balls.
Mayor of Entebbe Municipality, Vincent Kayanja De Paul flanked by the Entebbe Division B Chairman Stlaney Kapere Namayirira as well as the area councilors witnessed the handover of the equipment.

Addressing the team leaders and players during the hand-over of the equipment, Kayanja urged the team leaders to remain focused with the sole objective of promoting talent as well as making the best use of the sports equipment in the most efficient and effective way.
I want to thank the Mayor of Wuhan, Mr Wan Yong for the great initiative and kind gesture of extending help to Entebbe Municipality sports development, in particular our football teams. I believe the items donated will help in the development of football in Entebbe Municipality.
Relatedly, 10 football teams each received an additional two balls to assist them in the preparations.
A visibly excited Ayub Assimwe, a team leader at Taggy Girls disclosed his gratitude to Kawowo Sports;
This is a complete blessing to us. The donations of jerseys, balls, shin guards and boots will motivate the players and help us achieve further. We are really humbled by this donation and thank you Wuhan City, thank you Mayor Entebbe Municipality

According to the coordinator of the sports gear distribution program, Muhammud Muyomba, the other football teams within the Municipality to benefit from the donation will include; Entebbe F.C, Entebbe Leopards, Viva La Vie, Manyago, Red Rooster, Entebbe Ladies Women Team, Lake Victoria Soccer Academy among others.
“The distribution of sports equipment is on-going and we shall handle over sports gear to the other teams which have been recieved their items yet. Also, we shall include the sports academies within Entebbe Municipality” Muyomba clarified.

Wuhan City signed a memorandum of understanding with Entebbe Municipality for a cordinal working partnership in the departments of social-economic areas including sports
Several sporting activities as the Dragon boat festival (2017), Entebbe Marathons (2017 and 2018) have been already undertaken with success.
Also, there has been an exchange programme where officials of Entebbe Municipality visited Wuhan City and vice versa in exchange of knowledge, boosting tourism and the like.



Meanwhile, a six man sports committee was initiated to help in overseeing a football tournament within the teams of Division A and B.
The tournament will be kicking off soon with the objective of providing a plat form to identify more talents within Entebbe Municipality.
The semi-finalists will receive jerseys with enticing top prizes awaiting the excelling teams and individual players.
