The 2018 Total CAF Champions League group stages began but only three wins were registered on match day one.

On Friday, Ugandan champions KCCA lost 1-0 to fellow group stages debutants Township Rollers of Botswana.

Ugandan midfielder Ivan Ntege featured for Rollers against his former bosses.

In the same group, record winners Al Ahly were held at home by two time champions Esperance of Tunisia.

Match day two in the group will see the Egyptian side make a trip to Kampala to face KCCA while Township Rollers will be away to Esperance.

In group B, five time African champions TP Mazembe of DR Congo won 4-1 against Algeria’s ES Sentif in Lubumbashi while North African derby between MC Alger of Algeria and Morocco’s Difaa El Jadidi ended in a 1-1 draw.

The Algerian side finished with a man less.

Group C also registered one win with Guinea’s AC Horoya winning 2-1 away to Togo’s AS Port while in the same group; Denis Onyango’s Mamelodi Sundowns drew 1-1 with reigning holders Wydad Casablanca at the Lucas Moripe.

There was no win in group D with all games ending a one all stalemates.

Zesco United of Zambia were pegged by debutants Mbabane Swallows of Swaziland while Angola’s Primeiro de Agosto were also held at home by Tunisia’s Etoile Du Sahel.
