Mike Sulaiman Mutyaba

For each goal scored, the former Vipers, Express, El Merriekh and TP Mazembe player raced to the technical bench to shake head coach Mike Mutebi in the hands, as a gesture of appreciation

For his staunch religious beliefs, Mike “Sulaiman” Mutyaba politely turned down the man of the match accolade after his stellar performance during KCCA’s 6-1 home win against visiting Nyamityobora at the Star Times Stadium, Lugogo on Sunday.

Reason; the sponsors (Pilsner lager) contravene with his Muslim belief.

Mutyaba had taken a year-long break from football (infact he announced retirement) following a troublesome knee problem, scored a brace despite coming on a substitute for Allan Kyambadde seven minutes into the second half.

Each goal scored, the former Vipers, Express, El Merriekh and TP Mazembe player raced to the technical bench to shake head coach Mike Mutebi in the hands, as a gesture of appreciation.

After the amazing performance, the burly forward has since attributed the fine form to the entire KCCA FC coaching staff.

I want to thank Allah for the two goals and performance both for me and the entire team. In a special way, I appreciate the effort of my fellow players and coaches. All the coaches have been helpful in my recovery process with encouragement here and there. From the talk sessions, work-outs and moral support, all the coaches have played a part.

Mike Mutyaba is an intelligent forward. He holds the ball well and I would recommend him to bounce back for the national team. He had an excellent game against Nyamityobora F.C

Mutyaba scored in the 62nd and 70th minutes as KCCA ran rout in a one sided game.

KCCA produced arguably their season’s best performance thus far with the 6-1 demolition of Nyamityobora.

Patrick Henry Kaddu opened the scoring inside the opening five minutes.

Other goals came from team captain and Pilsner man of thematch Denis Timothy Awany, Allan Okello, Jackson Nunda and Mutyaba’s double as the Kasasiro lads regained top spot from Vipers.

Both Vipers and KCCA have 18 points although the latter have a superior goal difference.

KCCA’s next league engagement will be on Saturday, 1st November 2018 away to Maroons at the Luzira Prisons Stadium.
